Wishing You Joy

This week at Freshly Made Sketches, Jen Mitchell is hosting, and she has created a wonderful sketch for our challenge.  Jen’s style is so inspiring to me.  I love her fresh and clean approach to card designs and she always stays current on card making trends.  She is one of our primary FMS Design Team enablers, always sharing info on new products and sales!  I loved working with her sketch this week and it was simple to create a quick and easy card.  I don’t know about you, but right now I need quick and easy!

This really was a simple card to make.  One stamp set and a few tools.  I used Holly Jolly Greetings for the sentiment.  I love how I can piece the different stamps together to say what I want to say.   The Banners Framelits and the Circle Framelits made the cutting a breeze, too.  When I was getting the framelits out of my bin, which also houses my embossing folders, I saw my old (retired) Needlepoint Borders Embossing Folders and thought it would work well on this card to add a little bit of texture and dimension.

I used a little piece of Cherry Cobbler Satin Ribbon that I had in my stash with the Merry Moments DSP prints.  The stamped “JOY” looked a little blah on the circle, so I added the little dots and stars (stamp also in the Holly Jolly Greetings set) with Cherry Cobbler ink, but I stamped off once first, so the JOY would be predominant.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card and that it gives you some inspiration for some quick and easy cards.  The day to get cards in the mail is coming quickly.  That reminds me… I received my first Christmas card in the mail last Friday, THE DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING!  That’s a first.  Talk about overachievers!  I guess next year I’m going to have to start send mine out at Halloween so I’m not considered late.  🙂

I think you’ll agree that Jen’s sketch is a winner, and I hope you enjoy working with it as much as I did.  Please remember to visit Freshly Made Sketches to see what the Design Team has created to inspire you.  I hope to see your creation in our gallery this week!

Happy Stamping!

Striking card Cindy! I love the pops of red. The Needlepoint Borders Embossing Folder is the perfect touch, I tend to forget to use that folder but am always pleased when I do.
