Watercolor Tulips With Blessed Easter

I’ve really been into these one-layer cards lately… the ones that are complex enough (yet simple to make) to not require layers.  Linda Callahan’s great sketch for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge, which I would have normally created with lots of layers, gave me the opportunity to play around with this new-found love.

This is another card where the pieces fit together in a single layer like a puzzle.  The die cut that I used for the outside frame cut both the scalloped edge and the slightly smaller rectangle.

TIP:  It’s best to line up the two rectangular pieces (the Whisper White and the Watercolor Wonder DSP) and cut them both at the same time with the Top Note Bigz Die.  It assures a perfect fit every time!

The Blessed Easter stamp was inked with Stampin’ Write Markers (Crisp Cantaloupe, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Basic Black) and then colored with an Aqua Painter and Daffodil Delight and Crisp Cantaloupe ink pads.   A simple bow tied with Daffodil Delight Seam binding gives it a little dimension but keeps it mail-friendly.

I hope you’ll skip on over to Freshly Made Sketches to see what brand-new and freshly-made designs that they created to inspire you.  And, while you’re there, I hope you’ll play along with us this week.

See you in the gallery!
