Thanks from Freshly Made Sketches

It’s been another great year at Freshly Made Sketches, thanks to my wonderful team members and to our unbelievably kind and talented participants/followers.  I can’t believe that we’re already at the last challenge for the year.  Linda Callahan is our enchanting host this week, and she has the pleasure of hosting until the new year!  We’ll be going on a holiday break and Linda’s fabulous sketch will be open to play along with until January 4th.  I think that since you have almost three full weeks to play along, we should call this our “NO EXCUSES! Challenge”.

I’ve created a card for our FMS fans on behalf of our team to say thanks for another great year and for all the inspiration and encouragement that you’ve given to us:

This was a really fun and simple card.  Really!  The focal print was stamped with a flower outline stamp from Garden in Bloom using masks made with Post-It Notes, and then the “blank spaces” were colored in with a black marker.  I added a little light gray for shadowing, so if you think there are layers of white flowers, there aren’t.  It kind of looks like it, though, doesn’t it?  Actually it’s one stamped piece with one popped up flower.  To jazz it up a bit, I added a little black glitter in the center of the flower and Wink of Stella on the highlighted areas of the petals.

I was sooooo tempted to throw a little more color in there somewhere, but I resisted.  That’s not easy for me!   I was determined to challenge myself to do this card in black and white and only one item with color.  The sentiment banner was stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  And I left it at that.  Phew.  (To make up for my great pain and suffering, I snuck in a few black sequin hearts, which helped soothe me a little.)   You can probably expect my next card to be overly colorful.  🙂

FMS217 Linda Callahan

I’m sure you’ll have lots of reasons over the next few weeks to send out some thank you cards, so I hope my card and Linda’s sketch have been inspiring to you.  Make sure you take some time out and play along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.  No excuses!  We’re giving you plenty of time!

Thanks again, and happy stamping!

Wow, wow, wow! What an absolutely striking gorgeous card! I am in love with this card and my initial thought was how complicated it is – I’m so surprised to read you said it was simple! I wondered how you’d it and thought you’d embossed your heart out. I love how you’ve used the black marker in the background – so clever. I hope you and your family had a wonderful festive season.

I am a huge fan of black, white and a pop of color so this card goes straight to my “I love it” file! The bit of light gray really does give this a 3D look and, of course, your purple, sparkly bloom steals the show. It has been a wonderful year at FMS and I’m really looking forward to 2016!!
