Thank You for Another Great Sketch!

Karren Johnson is an amazing and talented designer (if you haven’t already done so, be sure to check out her blog at Stamping Stuff),   Karren is our host at Freshly Made Sketches this week, and I want to thank her for this wonderful sketch that allowed me to make a much-needed Thank You card using a nice, big font from the Another Thank You photopolymer stamp set. FMS166-Another-Thank-You-PlEven though I still need to make more Christmas cards, it was nice to take a break and make a pretty, feminine card with light pinks.  This card features the Pleasant Poppies and Another Thank You stamp sets, and even though I wasn’t sure about using the big, bold Thank You with the soft pink poppies, I ended up loving the results.  The emphasis is on the Thank You, as it should be in this case, yet the flowers make a lovely background. FMS166-Pleasant-PoppiesThe Pleasant Poppies stamp was hand colored with Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Markers, and then colored with a blender pen and both Pear Pizzazz and Pink Pirouette ink pads.  To define the images and contrast, I went over a few of the lines and edges with Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz markers. FMS166-Another-Thank-You The three photos make the paper appear anywhere from white to a light pink, but it is actually Very Vanilla.  I just couldn’t manage to get a consistent look when editing the photos.  (Sorry!)  Anyway, for the sentiment, I used VersaMark and Early Espresso Embossing Powder for a little added texture and shine.  Karren’s sketch suggests a scalloped edge and a ribbon or twine (see below), and I wanted to stay close to the sketch, but also wanted to use the Venetian Crochet Trim, so I backed it with Blushing Bride so it wouldn’t disappear against the Very Vanilla background.  In place of the ribbon or twine, I created faux stitching, topped with a heart and embellished with a few pink pearls (colored with a Copic Marker – R32, which is a very close match to Blushing Bride. FMS166 Karren I hope you love Karren’s sketch as much as I do and that you’ll play along with us at Freshly Made Sketches this week.  Be sure to check out the amazing (always!) designs that the ‘Clean Team’ has created for you. Thanks for stopping by!

This is amazing Cindy! The way you’ve colored the poppies, with such detail, makes them appear three dimensional. I love how the big sentiment looks against that beautiful background you’ve created.

I love this beautiful, feminine card! That bold sentiment is the focal point, but the flowers are such a lovely background and you’ve colored them beautifully. Love this, Cindy!

Cindy, I am literally at work, reading this, and shaking my head. What a gorgeous card! You did a fantastic job all the way around. I always thought poppies had to be red…not so…and you’ve proved it! Beautiful! Did you color the stamps with the markers then used the blender pen to add more color with the ink pad in the lid trick? I must CASE this one….. XO
