I decided to play around with the inlaid technique again this week. The wildly talented artist and gifted writer, Linda Callahan, has created a CAS sketch for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week. It inspired me to make this anniversary card for my husband.
The stars and stripes are because our anniversary is on the 4th of July. Rumor had it that we wouldn’t make it 6 months; we were one of the first couples who met online to get married. There weren’t even any dating websites back in 1996, just a handful of chat rooms. He was from Altha, Florida (population 479) and I lived in Michigan. I purposely made friends with him because he knew about computers, and I constantly had computer problems. Oh, the days of dial-up modems! I am happy to report that we have been married for 17 really wonderful years. I knew he was a keeper! So, this post is dedicated to the man who makes me see fireworks all year every year!
This was such a fun card to make. I really enjoy doing the inlaid technique. Although it’s hard to tell in the photo, everything is one layer except the heart and the circles on the stars.
The Real Red stripes were stamped with a stamp from Work of Art and then embellished with strips of Rhinestone Basic Jewels and Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.
You HAVE to check out the Clean Team’s cards at Freshly Made Sketches this week! They are all EXCEPTIONALLY amazing. It made me want to bow out this week! I hope you’ll play along with Linda’s fabulous sketch and we’ll see you in the gallery
