My mom called and said she needed a birthday card to give a gentleman neighbor that she doesn’t know well. I love the Wetlands stamp set and frequently use it for gents cards, and for today’s card, my goal was to keep it from seeming too personal. This definitely called for CAS!
To keep the base one layer I used an oval mask (Ovals Framelits), and then used masking tape to create my layers of sponged colors: So Saffron, Bermuda Bay and Crumb Cake. The duck is stamped in black and then re-stamped with VersaMark and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. For a final touch to give the water, sand and duck some glimmer, I added a light coat of Wink of Stella.
My card was inspired by our talented, super-efficient and lovely Jennifer Timko‘s sketch for this week’s challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. I’m serious. I was inspired the moment I saw it and I knew it was perfect for my masculine card. So, thanks, Jennifer!
I hope you are inspired, too, by Jennifer’s sketch, and that you’ll come play along with us this week at Freshly Made Sketches. I’d love to see you there!
