My Favorite SAB Stamp Set

Yay!  It’s time for the first Freshly Made Sketches challenge of 2016!  It seems like the extra time between challenges was a lot longer than it actually was, and I’m ready to stamp!  Kim Singdahlsen is our talented sketch designer and host this week, and I love the sketch she created for us.  It is so wide open for interpretation and use.  AND it gave me the opportunity to use my favorite stamp from the new Sale-A-Bration promotion, and it’s the little birdie from Honeycomb Happiness.  And best of all, it’s FREE!

FMS218-Cindy-HallIsn’t that little guy the most adorable?!  I colored the stamp up with markers: Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and VersaFine Black Onyx for my outlines, and then used an Aqua Painter and the same inks to color him.  I added a little Smoky Slate with the Aqua Painter to cast a shadow and give little tweety a base.  I added Wink of Stella to the upper part of the beak and a dot of While Gel Pen to the eyes and then gave them all a little layer of Crystal Effects.

FMS218-Happy-Birthday-EveryThe birthday sentiment is from Happy Birthday Everyone (the “to you” on the balloon is from the Honeycomb Happiness set) and was first stamped with Basic Gray and then slightly off set and stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder.  I love how it really makes the letters pop.

FMS218-Honeycomb-HappinessBecause I couldn’t give up the idea of using the large birthday sentiment, I needed a larger card, so I created a 5″ x 5″ card and made a matching envelope with the Envelope Punch Board.  The DSP on the card and for the envelope are from the new It’s My Party DSP Stack in the NEW 2016 Occasions Catalog.  The colors are actually the same, Crushed Curry and White, but they look like two different shades of yellow in the photo.  Hindsight is 20/20, and I wish I would have used the paper that I used for the envelope on the card, too, because it sort of looks like little birdie footprints.  🙂  Can you tell I’m a bird-lover????

Here’s Kim’s sketch, which I pretty much followed except for the card size/shapeFMS218 Kim SI hope you enjoyed today’s card and were inspired by it.  I also hope you’ll stop by Freshly Made Sketches to see what Kim and the other designers created to inspire you with this sketch.  And I hope one more thing (kinda like three wishes with a genie in a bottle), that you you’ll play along with us.  We love it when you make it hard for us to pick a King/Queen of Clean and Princes/Princesses!

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

The detail you put into this card is amazing! I love how you colored tweety – almost like no line coloring. Then your extra effort on the Happy Birthday sentiment-it pays off big! You hit this one out of the park! Thanks for sharing!

I love all of the special details you put into this card. The slight shadow on the sentiment is a great look. And I so love the way that sweet chick’s balloon is on the smaller panel!

    Hi Cindy
I have just come from Freshly Made Sketches (by the skin of my teeth!!!) and had to leave you a comment on your stunning card. Your chicken is adorable and at first I thought that it must have been coloured with alcohol markers so to get the effect with SU markers is amazing!
I love the gold embossing too!

Oh, do I love this card! Your little chick is colored perfectly and I am in love with how you did the sentiment. At first I thought it was a raised, dry embossed image then I got a closer look and saw it was gold and heat embossed. And I love how you offset a little gray before you embossed the gold. Genius!
