Live The Life

Happy Wednesday!  As the host at Freshly Made Sketches this week, I’ve decided to shake things up a bit and challenge the ‘Clean Team’ and you to different size card… a 4″ x 9.25″ elongated card.  I purposely designed this card so it would be easy to rotate to be used vertically instead of horizontally.  But with that being said, as always, our sketches are just a starting point, and if you’re more comfortable making a regular (4.25″ x 5.5″) card, or a slightly elongated note card, feel free to do what you want!

FMS176 Cindy H

I really like this size, and I love that if I need a quick and easy envelope, it fits perfectly in a regular #10 business size envelope.  But it’s even more fun to get out your envelope punch board and make your own coordinating envelope.

I also like this size, because I can make more of a landscape stamped image and still have room for a sentiment across the face of the card.  However, with that being said, I use this card size most often when I want to include cold-hard-cash or a check, like for graduation.

FMS176 Painted Petals

The Painted Petals Stamp Set (Occasions Catalog) was perfect for this card…  stamped across the front in different hues of the same colors, Crushed Curry and Wild Wasabi gave it a little bit of a watercolor look.  I also sponged in a little green ‘fill’ at the based of the flowers/leaves and stamped across the entire card with a lined stamp from Gorgeous Grunge.  The Perfect Plum butterfly image is from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set and cropped with the Bitty Butterfly Punch.  And, last, but not least, choosing more of the best of my favorites, I grabbed a fantastic sentiment from Really Good Greetings: great for a graduation card or just a card of support, encouragement and/or friendship.

I hope you’ll play along with the Freshly Made Sketches ‘Clean Team’ and me, and that you’ll give this card size a try!  Please stop by the challenge blog to get more inspiration from the team, and to see how each team member used the sketch and sketch size…

Thanks for stopping by!

Oh my this is lovely. I love the watercolor effect of the flowers, especially since no watercoloring was involved! What a gorgeous look! And I’m loving the long and skinny sketch. Can’t wait to see the gallery light up!

Cindy, this is awesome! I never venture outside the normal A2 cards, but you have truly inspired me to just “do it”! I love what you did here. The Grunge lines and the different color variations on the flowers…just perfect. And that little butterfly, with the twine at the top? Just the right added touch. Thanks for sharing your beautiful card with us today! Hugs my friend!

Hi Cindy, What a fun card! I’ve recently started following your blog because I love the cards you make for Freshly Made Sketches using Stampin’ Up! products. I’ve not ventured much beyond A2 cards, so I’m looking forward to CASing this card and then trying to come up with one of my own. Thanks!
