Life With You Is… Well… Um…

I can’t help but laugh at the second photo, and it’s what inspired the title of this post, but more about that in a minute.

This week I’ve made a card for my wonderful husband for our 18th Anniversary, which will be on the 4th of July.  Wow… 18 years.  Pretty good for a marriage that wouldn’t last 6 months.  Why does someone always have that negative prediction about marriages???   I met my “Axe-Murderer” online in 1996 (before online dating sites when the first chat rooms were launched).  We were married in 1997 and have been blissfully in love ever since.  I am a very blessed woman.

My card was inspired by Rita Wright’s awesome sketch (and very unique!) for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches Challenge.  Even though this sketch is really quite different, it wasn’t scary to me.  I felt more intrigued.  Do you know how difficult it is to create an original sketch after having seen so many sketches?  Leave it to Rita to continue to amaze us with her unending creativity!.

I like using By The Tide for any Man Card for summer months, and I like it for this one.  Well, as long as you look at the whole card.  Again, more about that in a minute.  It may or may not look like it on your computer, but the card stock is Ivory Naturals and Island Indigo with a little Soft Sky.  I had a really difficult time trying to get the colors correct in the photo editing.

I only have small Anniversary sentiments from SU right now, and they just got lost in the design of this card.  I found this set that I found in my stash, which I felt was a little more personal for my husband, and it was a great size for this card.

Now, for what made me laugh and inspired the title of this post…

I wanted to give you a close-up of the fish, and only got the first part of the sentiment in this shot.  Okay.  Well, “LIFE WITH YOU IS”…  a little fishy?  I just can’t quit giggling over this!  I hope he sees the whole sentiment right away!  Geez.  Leave it to me to somehow stick my foot in my mouth!

The fish was stamped with Marina Mist on Whisper White card stock, quickly coated with Clear Embossing Powder and heat embossed.  After cutting it out, I colored it in with an Aqua Painted and Wild Wasabi Ink Refill and gave it’s eye more definition with a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker.  With the heat embossing, it really looks shiny and scaly.

I hope you are intrigued by Rita’s sketch as much as I am and it makes you run to your craft room to create something with it!  If you need a little more inspiration, be sure to hop over to Freshly Made Sketches and check out the wide variety of awesome creations the Design Team has created for you.  Hope to see you in the gallery this week!

This is great, Cindy! Congrats on 18 years together. Jason and I met online as well and we are at 11 years. 🙂 Who knew playing a card game online would lead to true love?

Congrats on 18 years and happy anniversary! Your card is amazing and not at all fishy 🙂 Love the little burlap fringe – such a clever idea.

LOL! I went right from “life with you is” straight to “wonderful” and by-passed the fish altogether so I think you’re good. And by the way I love how this turned out. The burlap looks like some sea grass to go along with the kelp!

First Cindy, I LOVE LOVE your card! Hubby will love it too! And, I like how you used the clear embossing powder to make the fishes scales “pop”. Very cool. You know how we always talk about how much we have in common? Well, I met my hubby “online” too, but in the newspaper personal ads. There were no online dating sites then either. And it was in 1999. We’ve been married for 11 years this past April. This is just too funny! Anyway, congratulations on 18 beautiful years together! I am so happy for you both! Go out and make your own fireworks my friend! XO
