Good Wishes Your Way

Happy Wednesday!  I have a question for you… is this year going by as fast for you as it is for me????  I can’t believe it’s almost mid-May.  I probably should start thinking about Christmas cards already, but I’m just having too much fun playing with spring/summer colors and designs.

Another question:  Are you ready to play along with a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches? I think you will be when you see Jennifer Brum’s sketch this week! Jen’s sketches are always creative and fun to work with, and her talent in both designing sketches and creating cards is amazing.  Be sure to stop over at Freshly Made Sketches to see what Jen and the ‘Clean Team’ have designed to inspire you this week!

Here’s what Jen’s sketch inspired me to create:

Butterfly-BasicsI am still crazy in love with the Butterfly Basics stamp set and the coordinating Butterflies Thinlits.  In looking a Jen’s sketch, I first saw a diagonal line, suggesting maybe a piece of ribbon or card stock applied on top of the background piece, but then I decided to make the top and bottom pieces split with a peek-a-boo of Washi Tape showing through.  The two diagonal panels were attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the Washi Tape is recessed on the card base.  The Color Me Autumn Washi Tape (currently on the Clearance Rack, so get it quickly if you want it!) was applied to a strip of Whisper White to keep it bright.  The pretty DSP prints are from the Flower Pot DSP Collection.

Butterfly-Basics-and-Butter

I have to tell you about the super-technical method that I used to make the butterfly sparkly-glittery:  I put a dab of Dazzling Details Glitter Glue on my finger tip and dabbed it on.  Super-technical, like playing with Elmer’s Glue in Kindergarten.  Just thought you might want to know.

Lovely-Amazing-You

The sentiment was super-technical. too.  Use your regular Classic Stampin’ Pad, apply ink, and quickly add clear embossing powder (this ink dries faster than VersaMark, but it you have your embossing powder ready to apply, it stays wet just long enough) and heat emboss as usual.  A splash of Rhinestones and Viola!  You’re done.  Quick and easy card – my favorite.

Here’s Jen’s sketch, and I hope to see you in the FMS gallery this week!

FMS186 Jen BrumI hope you’ve been inspired by today’s card and are on the way to your crafting space!  Thanks for stopping by!

P.S.  I seriously considered taking a picture of my glittery finger for the supply list, since it was an official tool in the making of this card, but it’s priceless and not for sale.  🙂

Gorgeous card Cindy! I love the sparkle and that butterfly! Such great summery colours! I totally think you should have taken a picture of your finger and included it! I usually end up with glitter everywhere when I do that and then go out in public…
