Gone, Gone, Gone

I was just told that today’s post hadn’t gone live this morning at 5:30 AM like it usually does.  Oh my, I must have forgotten to “Publish” it…   Nope.  Went to hit the publish button, a quick and easy fix, but there’s no post, period.  So here I am starting over and 2:00 PM.

Hopefully I can remember most of what I wrote.  Thank heavens the pictures do most of the talking.

Let’s start out with “Yay!  It’s Wednesday and time for another challenge at Freshly Made Sketches!”  This week our beautiful, sweet and supremely talented Amy O’Neill is our host.  I love working with Amy’s sketches, since we tend to have the same likes when it comes to card making. A design came to mind the moment i saw her sketch.

This week I needed to add to my Birthday Man-Card stash, and the sketch worked beautifully with the Wetlands stamp set and Crazy About You sentiment set.  You’re going to notice a vast difference in how the colors appear between the photo above and the one below, but trust me, it is Crumb Cake with Soft Suede.

I think the second looks much more true to the color, but I couldn’t get the color right on the first one no matter what I did.  I guess I was having a technically challenging day yesterday, hence the missing post!  To give the card some depth, I added some linen thread on top of the reeds at the bottom of the image, popped the duck, and used the Woodgrain Embossing Folder.  Vellum was used for the sentiment so I wouldn’t cover the “picture” completely, and remember those metallic brads???  I still have some, but everyone tells me how much they’d like to see Stampin’ Up! bring them back.  I cut the pieces off of the back so I could use them more like Candy Dots and cover the glue dots that adhere the banner to the card.

Super easy card… I hope you like it and that you’ll give it a try.

Make sure to stop in over at Freshly Made Sketches to see what the “Clean Team” has created to inspire you using Amy’s sketch:

I’m not sure what I like more — that you created a window on this card, or the linen thread reeds peeking out. Fabulous job, Cindy! Hope you’re having a fabulous birthday today!

This is a brilliant use of the sketch, Cindy! Love this fabulous masculine card and I’m sorry you had to write your post out again – how frustrating!

You are so good at making man-cards! I love the texture from the embossing folder and the linen thread and yep, you’ve even give the goose some “grass!” That’s fabulous! And that’s weird that your post disappeared. I’m always worried that will happen to me! 🙂
