The Garden in Bloom and Watercolor Wings stamp sets are the PERFECT summertime stamp sets! I just received them and couldn’t resist using both of them on my card for today’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Kim Singdahlsen is our wonderful, kind, talented and amazing host this week, BUT she gave us a challenge with three circles. Did I mention that our friendship is teetering on the edge??? I’m just kidding about that, but I’m not crazy about working with multiple circles, especially when they overlap. The great disclaimer is that she also said that we can use any shape, as long as it resembles the sketch.
I have to admit that I have created three cards with this sketch already! Hopefully, I’ll be showing you the other two soon; were both created with the leftover supplies and scraps from the June Paper Pumpkin and they are SO CUTE! I can’t wait to show you how I used the pieces that were meant to be thrown away. I should have called my blog “The Frugal Stamper”!
Anyway, on to my card:
Leaving so much white-space is hard for me, but I always love the way it looks on other people’s cards. So I resisted adding any splatters, sequins, rhinestones or pearls. *Sigh* But I have to admit, I do like the way it looks on this card. The gorgeous flowers (Garden in Bloom) and butterfly (Watercolor Wings, Butterfles Thinlets and Bold Butterfly Framelits) get all of the attention, as they should.
I did add one extra accessory, some Tip Top Taupe Dotted Lace Trim, which is very subtle (see first picture), but it adds softness and dimension. I also used a Project Life Journaling Pen and created some purposely kinda messy lines around the label piece with the sentiment, since I was using white-on-white. The look complements the black lines on the flowers. Okay, one last admission… the flowers were originally going to be stamped directly on the card base, and they were. Then came the big black smudge dead-center on the front of the card. Scissors to the rescue! 🙂
So, you can see Kim’s circles, and I think my flowers and butterfly are close. Well, maybe. Hopefully, Kim will say we can still be friends! Speaking of friends, I hope you’ll go see my friend’s awesome creations (and I don’t say that lightly!) at Freshly Made Sketches. I truly believe that I work with some of the best card designers in the world, and, in addition, the entries in our gallery are amazing, too! On average, you’ll get over 100 ideas each week. Will you join us in inspiring others this week?
Thanks for stopping by!
