Friendly Phrases “to my friend”

Friendly Phrases is one of the stamp sets I’m really going to miss.  I regret not pulling it out more often, and this one may not make it to my sale bin!   I love the sweet, whimsical look of the fonts, and the great selection of sentiments in this set.

I’ve used a very clean-lined sketch created by our wonderfully talented ‘Clean Team’ designer, Linda Suarez, for this week’s challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

 Friendly Phrases Stamp Set

The real challenge for me is to keep such a beautifully clean sketch clean.  I tend to overuse supplies and patterns and lose the feel of the ultra-clean lines, which to me, is the real appeal of this sketch.  So, I opted for a little texture with a Chevron Embossing Folder, rather than prints, to accent the design and kept my embellishments very minimal.  Instead, I attempted to really accent the lines of Linda’s sketch by using Early Espresso, Pink Pirouette and Very Vanilla card stock.  I love these colors together; they always remind me of an ice cream or candy shop.  🙂  Actually, it just dawned on me that they are the colors of Neapolitan Ice Cream and those little coconut chewy candies!  Duh!  Now I know why!

The femininity of the Pink Pirouette/Rose Red Two-Tone silky ribbon along with the tiny stacked flower created with papers cut with the Itty Bitty Shapes and Boho Blossoms Punches and topped with the coordinating Bitty Button and a silver Metallic Brad, give this card just the right amount of sweetness.

I hope you love this sketch by Linda as much as I do!  I’ll be using this one again.  I think it would be a great starting point for a Man-Card, too.

Don’t forget to drop by Freshly Made Sketches to see what the ‘Clean Team’ has created to inspire you, and please share your creative designs with us this week.  We need to be inspired, too!

Pretty card Cindy. I love these colors together too but especially pink, because I love pink anyway. I may have to give this a shot at a masculine card too like you suggested!
