Freshly Made Sketches #227

A Day In Paris.  Ooh-la-la, that sounds good.  I’ve used Penny Black’s A Day In Paris stamp set for my design for this week’s sketch challenge at Freshly Made SketchesLinda Callahan is our hostess this week, and we can always look forward to a very versatile and creative sketch from her.  It mirrors her work as a card maker.  Linda is so creative and uses stamp sets in the most creative ways.  I am amazed by each and every card she makes.  If you haven’t been to her blog, you really must check out her designs at Stampin’ Seasons.  I didn’t change Linda’s sketch on my card, but because my image was a little large, I turned the base card and s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d the sketch to fit appropriately.

FMS227-A-Day-In-Paris---PenThis image was so much fun to color!  I tried a new (to me) water color medium by Peerless with a #6 Silver Black Velvet brush and I loved working with it.  The brush has such a fine tip that you can color anything with it.  I think I’ve found my preferred medium for water coloring, at least for coloring images!  (Finally.)  I still need to learn not to overwork water colors; they’re just not meant to be perfect.

SThis was a simple card to put together.  The both DSP packs are from Stampin’ Up!:  the striped DSP is from the Go Wild DSP stack and the black with tiny white hearts is from a retired DSP stack.  I tossed in a few clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh for my finishing touch.

I’m really excited to do more coloring with my new water colors.  I have a few more images (just a few, right?) that I want to color now.

In the meanwhile, I hope you’ll visit Freshly Made Sketches and leave some love for the girls who work each week to bring you inspiration via fresh and new designs.  And we’d love it if you would play along with us this week!
