Fresh Birthday Wishes

Today’s card was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches (their debut sketch!) and The Paper Players color challenge:

If you’re looking for creative inspiration, in my opinion, these two blogs, along with Pals Paper Arts, rate at the top of my list of the very best challenge blogs on the web.  The designers are truly professionals in the stamping business and they have exceptional talent when it comes to color schemes, balance and technique.  And because they’re so good, they draw entries from other excellent papercrafters.  I recently was asked by a new Stampin’ Up! demonstrator where to buy tutorials to get ideas for her classes.  I told her to start with these three blogs.  Between the designer and participant entries, if you’re not inspired by at least one card, you’re having a bad day!

So, back to my card.  I used the sketch challenge and Nance’s exquisite combination of colors to create today’s card:

Again, these are colors I probably would have never tried together, but I love the combination!  Thanks again, Nance!  And the sketch is one that I will use over and over;  it lends to a very complete and professional look.  The Paisley Petals DSP in Old Olive was the perfect backdrop for this layout and colors.  Hand coloring both the Elements of Style stamp and the Happiest Birthday Wishes sentiment tied everything in for a balanced and cohesive look.

SUPPLIES:  Paper:  Old Olive (100702), Rich Razzleberry (115316), Whisper White (100730), Basic Grey (121044) and Paisley Petals DSP (122367);  Stamp Sets:  Elements of Style (W118611 or C120045) and Happiest Birthday Wishes (Specially Priced Hostess Set, W122615 or C122617);  Ink:  Stampin’ Write Markers in Rich Razzleberry (120970), Old Olive (100079) and Basic Grey (120966);  Tools:  Lace Ribbon Border Punch (122362), Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (113439) and Fun Flowers Bigz L Die (121812);  Finishing Touches:  Rich Razzleberry 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon (120930), Basic Pearls (119247) and Regals Brads (119737).

Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine:  A must-have to take your stamping to the next, more professional level.  Use it with embossing folders, embosslits dies, Bigz dies so much more to cut multiple layers of cardstock, fabric, cork, cardboard, metal, etc.  This is the perfect item to choose at 50% off with a $400 order, in addition to your normal hostess dollars.  Get your friends together to place an order!

Fun Flowers Bigz Die:  Use with the Big Shot Die-Cutting machine to create countless different flowers by layering or using pieces individually.  It adds such fun dimension to your projects.  This is definitely an essential to your collection!

Both are ideal items to work toward with hostess rewards.

NOTICE:  Tomorrow is Pals Paper Arts Fall Blog Hop!  It’s the biggest hop they’ve had to date, and I’m going to be part of it.  Don’t miss it…  I’ve made something very special!

Thanks for stopping by!

Cindy, this is gorgeous! There is something very serene about your choice of the colors. Although the colors are very rich, you have made them so very soft. It allows for that fabulous flower to be the star. Thanks so much for joining us again this week at the Paper Players!

Cindy, I totally agree with you about those being 3 of the best challenges. 🙂 I LOVE your card. I’m a bit obsessed with the Fun Flowers die right now and I am amazed at how elegant and fancy it looks with the addition of those pearls. Add in that strip of punched lace threaded with ribbon and you have a beautiful, strikingly elegant card! Thanks so much for joining us this week at Freshly Made Sketches and The Paper Players.
