This week at Freshly Made Sketches, our sketch challenge is brought to you by Kim Singdahlsen. Kim has an abundance of artistic skills for both designing cards and sketches. If you haven’t already, check out Kim’s blog of creativity and talent, Joyful Creations with Kim. I love the simplicity of Kim’s sketch for this week; it’s clean and wide open for your own interpretation.
I was a good girl last year, so Santa brought me this fabulous stamp set and coordinating dies, the Cool Treats bundle . I was reeaaaalllly good, because he brought me even more stamping treasures. WooHoo!
This bundle can make card making super quick and simple, yet still have a nice, complete look. I grabbed one of the stamps out of my FREE Sale-a-Bration set, Delicate Details, to create the strip next to the main panel, and at the same time, using my Misti, I stamped the sentiment, both on the card base. I constructed the ice cream cone with die cut pieces, added some matte finish glue and spinkled the Sprinkles Embellishments on (LOVE THESE!). The main panel piece is cut from Tasty Treats DSP and textured with an old SU embossing folder.
(Forgive me… the glue was still wet when I photographed this card… it will dry matte.) My last little addition was Crystal Effects on the cherries to give them shine and roundness. (NOTE: After finishing and photographing this card, I found myself wondering if coloring in the loops of the border stamp with 3 or 4 colors of the sprinkles would be pretty or too much. I think I’ll try it on scrap paper before adding it to this card. Just wanted to tell you, in case you wanted to try it, too.)
Isn’t Kim’s sketch fabulous?! I think I could really get carried away using this one over and over! I hope you’re inspired by Kim’s sketch and my card. BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE! Head over to Freshly Made Sketches for inspiration from our amazing Design Team. We hope you will play along with us this week.
