FMS207- Grateful for You and Fall

I’m finally getting a few cards made with fall images and colors.  If you’ve been following me for a while, then you know that fall is my favorite time of year, and making fall cards makes me feel happy.  It’s hard to see and feel the signs of fall in Southwest Florida, but making these cards helps a lot.  Kim Singdahlsen at Joyful Creations has created a great sketch for this week’s challenge at Freshly Made Sketches, and it’s another one of those inspiring sketches that gave me many ideas.  I will definitely be using this one again throughout the holidays!  I hope you love it, too.

My card features the For All Things stamp set.

I used vellum for the leaves to give them a translucent look and drew veins on the back side of the leaves thinking that I could invisibly adhere them with the new fine-tip glue.  The glue actually spread the ink when I stuck them on the card, but the result was an unexpectedly good.  It makes them look even more realistic.  You can’t see it well in the photo, but I used Vanilla Coaster board under the Naturals Ivory card stock to raise it a little.  The tiny leaves that are stamped in the sentiment panel are from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set… I love all the choices of stamps that can be used to give my cards some extra detail.

Kim’s sketch will be a long-lived classic in my collection of great sketches!  It has endless possibilities for any occasion.  What occasion can you see yourself using this sketch for?  I hope you’ll show us this week by joining our challenge at Freshly Made Sketches, and don’t forget to go see the variety of cards that the ‘Clean Team’ has created to inspire you!

I can’t decide whether I love the burlap or the vellum leaves better on this card. The burlap has such wonderful texture but the vellum leaves are so colorful and I love your happy accident with the veins. Combined, this is quite a feast for the eyes!

Beautiful card, Cindy! I love your happy accident with the glue on the leaves, and I’ll bet the vellum looks even cooler in real life.

Beeeuuutttiiiiful! WOW Cindy, this is really a super great layout, and a beautiful card. The burlap ribbon pulled at the edges just adds to the sweetness; very texture-y. (if that’s a word). 🙂 Those little leaves look like they have a darker edge to them. Did you sponge the edge of the stamp, or is that just how it comes out. I have that set and only used the snowflakes so far. Very nice my friend….perfect for a Fall day. Hugs!
