FMS One Year Anniversary!

Wow!  Can you believe that it’s been a whole year since the creation of Freshly Made Sketches?!  I think FMS was popular with card making enthusiasts even before the very first challenge!  And it’s been a year of great success for Lesley with this wonderful challenge blog.  I am so honored to be a part of it.

With all that being said, I think Lesley has now created the hardest of all the challenges thus far.   We’ve been challenged to use any of the past 51 challenge sketches this week.  As I went back through each of them, I kept saying, “Oh yeah, I loved that one.  Oh, that was a great sketch, I think I use that one.  Oh, wait a minute, THAT was one especially fun.”  Get the picture?  One thing I know for sure, after going through each and every one of them, I’ll be using a lot of them over the next few weeks!

This card was inspired by one of the ‘early’ sketches, #7:

I can’t quit giggling over those silly Googlies!  I wish you could see me sitting around playing with my card when it’s finished.  I love making him have funny expressions when his little eye balls land in different positions!  It just makes me crack up!  If you’ve bought and used these, I’m sure you know what I’m talking about.

I used River Rock card stock to give my little ghoul from the Googly Ghouls Stamp Set a ghoulish appearance.  I stamped him with Basic Black ink, and then fussy-cut him so I could ‘pop’ him on my card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I also used the bats from Googly Ghouls, fussy-cut, and ‘popped’ them, too.

The background is from the Howlstooth and Scaringbone DSP pack.  The Basic Gray panel was texturized with the Chevron Embossing Folder, and I added two small borders of Basic Black cut with the Finishing Touches Edgelits.

The sentiment is from Toxic Treats and was stamped with Basic Black ink on Very Vanilla cardstock, matted with Pumpkin Pie cardstock and ‘tricked out’ with two gray brads from the Neutrals Brad collection.

Just so you can see how my mind has twisted in the last year, here’s the sweet little card I made with this same sketch.  See what Googlies have done to me?!  I had no idea until just now when I went to see what I made with it last year that I made a Halloween card then, too!

Here’s the the sketch from week 7 of Freshly Made Sketches:
