Easy Water Colored Flowering Fields

Yep.  I’m still here.  And I’m still trying to conquer water coloring.  I think I found a way that kind of works for me.

I’m working with Narelle Farrugia’s fabulous sketch for Freshly Made Sketches challenge, and it features Narelle’s famous layers.  🙂  I love sketches that feature Narelle’s fabulous and famous layers.  (I couldn’t resist typing that tongue-twister!  Sorry!)  I paired the sketch challenge with the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge at The Paper Players.  My chosen squares were ‘flowers’, ‘pink’, and ‘ribbon’.

FMS222-Watercoloered-FlowerI think the thing that I like best about this card is the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  It’s retired, but they really should bring it back.  The primary colors are Pink Pirouette and Tip Top Taupe.  I used a die cut (sorry, I don’t remember the company… labeling got separated from the set, but I think it may have been MFT), that cuts scalloped frame and the inside stitched frame rectangle on the same pass.

This was the easiest water coloring that I’ve done so far and I actually like how it looks.  I just painting the background in sky blue and made it sort of stippled with heavier drops of color or watered.  After stamping the flowers and buds, the buds all in Wild Wasabi and the flower petals in Rose Red, I dabbed very slight amounts of water to the petals and leaves.   No added color was needed.  After the panel was dry, I added a few touches of Wink of Stella, which gives the card even more dimension in person.  A few Pearls Basic Jewels added to a sentiment panel with “thanks” in a pretty script font and layered over the water colored panels and layers of Tip Top Taupe Dotted Lace Trim completed this Thank You card.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s card for our Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

Cindy, this is so pretty. I love the colors and that embossing folder? I totally agree with you. I love the dots. You’re doing a great job at water coloring. It’s one of my favorite things to do, along with sponging/masking. I really like how you just dabbled the water on; gives it a Monet look! Love this! 🙂

You always know how to add a little detail that packs a lot of punch. In this case I’m enamored of that little row of pearls on the sentiment banner. What a fabulous way to break up the space and give some interesting texture to something that otherwise would be an ordinary banner! The lace ribbon gives this a wonderful vintage look and the colors complement each other perfectly!
