Crazy Middle-of-the-Night Card Ideas

I have some information for you that I don’t think you already know.  Or maybe I’m the last to know?  We’ll see.

But first…  Welcome to my blog and Happy Wednesday.  It’s time for another fun sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches and our host this week is the incredibly talented and always inspirational Karren Johnson.  Her sketch this week is one that I liked the moment I saw it and I knew I’d have ideas galore with this one.   And here’s my first creation using the sketch (I know there will be more!).

Okay, here’s the part that I thought you might not already know…   St. Patrick’s Day Official Beverage is GREEN TEA!  Did you know that?  I grew up thinking it was green beer.  Now, I’ve never drank a green beer, and I probably never will, but I do drink green tea.  Makes sense, right?  The crazy sentiment and idea for this card popped in my head out of nowhere in the middle of the night and I had to go with it, so I found a funky looking font and printed the sentiment with the help of my computer and printer, cut it to size and framed it with a Decorative Label.   For the cup of tea, from the Perfect Blend Stamp Set, I simply colored on the stamp with Stampin’ Write Marker around the outside of the cup and left the ‘paper band’ off, and stamped it a second time to get just the lid.  The tea bag tag was cut freehand and attached with one strand of thread from white baker’s twine.  The ‘shadow’ at the bottom of the cup was stamped with one of the stamps included in the Sheltering Tree Stamp Set (Occasions Catalog).

This was such a quick and easy card to make, and one that made me grin while I was working on it!  I hope you were inspired and that you will join me in declaring Green Tea the Official St. Patrick’s Day Beverage!

Even though I intended to and thought I was following Karren’s sketch exactly, my memory apparently isn’t what it used to be.  I completely forgot about the banner piece, and will include it when I use this sketch again in the very near future!

Cindy..this is an awesome card! Who would have thought green tea is the official drink on St. Paddy’s day.
I have never drank a green beer (grammar? ;o)). Now I can toast with tea. Everybody is Irish on St. Patrick’s day.

Really cute card. I love the way you did the cup and the sentiment. I did not know that about the green tea, of course I don’t drink tea or beer either. 🙂
    Have a great day.
