Butterfly Thanks

This week’s challenge at Pals Paper Arts is to create a tag, or incorporate a tag or tags into your card.  My inspiration came from a design in the 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalog on page 197.  While the card in the catalog is very soft and serene, I chose to make mine bright and cheerful for a Thank You card.

The colors are from the “Creative Combination” on the So Saffron card in the Stampin’ Up! Color CoachSo Saffron, Rose Red and Wild Wasabi.   I started with a Wild Wasabi card base, and added a layer from Beyond the Garden DSP, which had two of my primary colors, and I enhanced that layer with a piece of Rose Red cardstock trimmed with the Eyelet Border Punch

The tags were cut to proportion from Whisper White cardstock, and then the edges sponged with Wild Wasabi Classic Ink.  I made three circles from Wild Wasabi cardstock with the 1/2″ Circle Punch, and after adhering them, punched a hole with the Crop-a-Dile.   I used Vintage Trinkets safety pins to pin the tags to a strip of So Saffron 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon.  I cut a butterfly from each of the three primary colors with the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die and then tied a piece of Hemp Twine around each one, leaving long ends for antennas.  (Note:  The So Saffron butterfly was stamped with the heart stamp from You Are Loved using VersaMark).

I stamped the sentiment from Faith in Nature Stamp Set using Wild Wasabi Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock, and then used the Word Window Punch to crop it.  I added two of the most adorable little “button” brads from Vintage Trinkets (I didn’t even know that those cute little brads came with the safety pins, did you???), and adhered the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

This card was made for a bright and cheery lady, Trudy, who volunteers her time as our church office secretary.  She’s such a sweet and happy person, and I wanted a card that reflected her personality.  I think I hit the mark with this one!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this project, and now it’s time to see what the other Design Team members at Pals Paper Arts have created for you using tags.  I hope you’ll play along with us!

Thanks for stopping by!
