Birdie Wishes Your Way

I’m so glad to be back and playing along at Freshly Made Sketches this week!  Karren Johnson is hosting this week with a fresh and unique sketch, but don’t interpret that as “difficult”.  Karren is a very talented card maker/papercrafter, and that clearly carries over into her sketch designing.  I chose to use a bird and leaves in place of the three flowers…

FMS188-Bird-Builder-PunchI realized as I was finishing this card, the sentiment from the Butterfly Basics stamp set, “Sending Wishes Your Way”, doesn’t have to be used with the “Happy Birthday” that also comes with it.  So, I’ll leave it up to you to decide what kind of wishes I’m sending.  🙂

FMS188---Bird-Builder-and-B

This was my first attempt with embossing paste (the stuff I used was called “Modeling Paste”, but I guess it’s the same thing).  If you’ve never tried it, it is actually pretty simple.  I had a old stencil (don’t remember when or where I bought it – maybe Memory Box ???) that I used because somehow, when I totally rearranged my craft room/office several months ago, I put my SU stars and hearts stencils somewhere really logical.  I’m sure of it.  I just don’t know where.  I know where they were BEFORE I moved the craft supplies around.  Oh, well.  Anyway, I really like the paste and love the texture.  Good news for impatient people like me:  the paste dries pretty quickly.

Another quick and easy card.  Thank you, Karren, for the inspiration:

I hope you’ve been inspired by Karren’s sketch and my card.  Please visit Freshly Made Sketches for more inspiration from the ‘Clean Team’ and then take the challenge to make a card with this sketch.  I hope we see you in the gallery this week!

Additional Supplies (Non-SU):  Natural Twine, Palette Knives, Modeling Paste and Stencil.

WOW! Outstanding card Cindy! Embossing paste? I’ve heard of it, but have no idea what it is, or how to use it. I actually thought this was an embossing folder. It’s gorgeous and that bird punch will always be a favorite! Beautifully done my friend! Hugs!
