Well, as we begin a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches, I’ve been forced to do a little reflecting. First, I recently learned that a person SHOULD NOT PRAY FOR PATIENCE. Kinda late in learning this… I thought it was a good thing for an impatient person to do. Well, I’ve recently been told that you will be given consistent obstacles to help you learn to be patient. 4 years of it to be exact. So I hereby declare that I am now patient!
Secondly, in being careful what you wish for… I secretly wished for a little birthday vacation. It’s been too long since the last. I got a vacation; 8 days in the hospital with pneumonia! Okay, technically, I guess that’s a vacation.
Please be advised that I usually don’t post about things like this. I do NOT like pity parties for myself and therefore avoid anything that will attract one. So PLEASE do not send condolences! 🙂 I’m just fine!
Now, for the fun stuff. I finally was able to create again, and even though it came slowly, it feels so good! My card is based on Jen Mitchell’s awesome sketch for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week, and I am so glad to say that it wasn’t too hard for me with my Mojo being on vacay, too. I really love the creative liberty that Jen provides with this sketch.
Such a great sketch, and I came very close to using it completely as-is for a Graduation stash card, but right now I have so many special cards to make for so many special friends.
One of my all-time favorite techniques is the “Faux Linen Look” and it’s been quite some time since I’ve created anything with it. So easy, yet so much texture and fun. A stamped and crinkled piece of tissue paper glued onto card stock (Soft Sky) with a thin layer of glue stick. LOVE IT! The Everything Eleanor stamp set provided the flourish and flowers, Trust in God for the sentiment, and Butterfly Basics for the diagonal borders. The borders were accented with a Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Marker, with one solid line and one “stitched” line. A little paper piercing on the main panel and sentiment piece, some pearls and a pretty little bow were the finishing touches.
I hope you’ve been inspired by Jen’s sketch and that you’ll join us at Freshly Made Sketches this week! Be sure to check out the awesome cards made for you by our ‘Clean Team’… they are all AMAZING, as usual!
