Another Blooming Birthday Card

Happy New Year!  I hope your holidays were wonderful, that you had some time to relax amid the hubbub of the season, and that you had some time to play with paper and ink.  It’s so good for the soul!

I had a little time to browse blog challenges, which I haven’t done in a while.  There are so many new blog challenges!  I came across a sketch by Nicole Watt at one of my favorites challenge blogs, Pals Paper Arts, that really captured my interest and I just had to play with it.  Nicole is so talented and comes up with the most innovative sketches.

PPA-Flower-PatchI immediately thought of a bright bouquet for the partial circle portion of Nicole’s sketch.  Flower Patch and the coordinating dies, Flower Fair, worked well for a quick and easy card.  I kept the frame neutral to make the colors of the flowers pop.  I’m starting a new stash of cards, and bright, cheery and mail-friendly birthday cards are always in demand!

Forgive me for using the retired Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder (if you don’t have your own).  There are items that retire that I simply cannot part with and cannot stop using on a regular basis.  This is one of them.  I hope you have one, too!   “Perfect Polka Dots” says it all.

The card is very basic and easy… a few randomly placed flowers and minimal embellishments:  white bakers twine tied into a triple strand bow and a few candy dots in the centers of the flowers.  The frames (Smoky Slate matted with Basic Gray) weren’t cut with anything special, just on the paper trimmer.

PPA281I hope you’ve been inspired by Nicole’s sketch and my take on it and that you’ll make some time to stamp today!

Wishing you a very healthy and joyous new year!

What a gorgeous collection of flowers, Cindy. They are so beautifully arranged – and the polka dots embossing takes this frame over-the-top. Love it!
