A Valentine For Your Man

Okay, I’m a girlie-girl.  Period.  Making masculine cards can be a challenge for me.  I love ribbons and bows and lace and baubles.  To me, sometimes a masculine card can be sort of like getting all dressed up and going out without any earrings on. Today’s card is made based on The Bryce Hall Rules for Making Man-Cards: Absolutely no flowers, bows, lace or pearls; texture is “cool”; animals images should be realistic, not fluffy and “cute”, if buttons must be used, they have to resemble what would be on men’s clothing, preferably metal; a ribbon with a knot (no bow) is acceptable, but it’s better without any button at all; color is good as long as it’s not pink; glitter can be okay if used in the proper situation, like maybe stars; hearts are acceptable for anniversary cards, Valentine’s Day cards and “I love you because you’re the best husband in the whole world” cards.  Actually, I like his rules.  It equates to E-A-S-Y! FMS170-You-Plus-Me It’s also inspired by Jen Mitchell’s fabulously clean and simple sketch for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Jen is our host this week, and I must have sent her telepathic waves to give us something great for making a Man-Card.  I have to admit, I have a ton of ideas on how to use this sketch for a totally girlie-girl card, too.  🙂  I also found inspiration at The Paper Players:  their theme this week for Challenge #228 is to make the sentiment the focal point of a CAS card.  Like LeAnne stated, there are so many fabulous sentiments available now, it’s easy to make it the focal point without adding a lot of embellishments and fluff.  Again, perfect for a Man-Card. FMS170 Jen M This card is so basic that it doesn’t need much explanation, but there are a couple of things that I want to bring attention to.  The Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack (heart punch) and Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy Stickers are PERFECT with the new Happy Heart embossing folder and the sentiment from the new You Plus Me stamp set.  Just color the heart on the stamped image with the color of your choice and apply the epoxy sticker.  Can you say “Easy”?  It’s so great for a impatient person like me who can never wait until the Crystal Effects dries and ends up messing it up. FMS170-Masculine-Valentine I hope you enjoyed today’s super clean and extraordinarily easy card!  Please visit Freshly Made Sketches to see what Jen and the ‘Clean Team’ have made with Jen’s sketch, and try to make time to play along with us this week!  Don’t forget to check out the Design Team’s creations at The Paper Players, too.  In a nutshell:  lots of FABULOUS inspiration. Happy stamping!

Cindy, your card for your husband is perfect! Message is conveyed with none of the bells and whistles that would get us girls ooohing and ahhhing, but wonderful for THEM! That’s what I love about making cards. Thanks for the instructions on the epoxy embellishments. I don’t have them yet so will definitely try coloring under them! Great idea! Thanks for playing along with the Paper Players CAS challenge this week.

Well, I haven’t heard of Bryce Hall, but his rules seem pretty sound to me, knowing the men I know! And you have created an AWESOME guy card…..just a perfect mix of color, texture and cool sentiment! A ten on my scale!!! Thanks so much for participating in my Paper Players challenge this week!

Bryce’s rules sound very similar to what my husband and son would recommend. And I love how that by following them, you’ve made a fabulous man card here.

Bryce’s rules are pretty on the button (no pun intended!). And your card is also on the button. The texture on that heart background is fabulous and the pops of red really stand out against the neutral background.

Good for Bryce for coming up with a template for making man-cards! You should let all the world know because that list certainly makes it easier for us card makers! And I think you nailed it with this card. Some nice texture, a few hearts (but not too many) and a simple sentiment. Bam! He’s gonna love it!

    LOVE IT!!!!

All in all, his rules sound pretty universal for a man-card. So why are they so difficult?! Obviously not really for YOU since this is awesome! Love how you used this background embossing!

You crack me up. Posting the “man rules” on the card is great. Who is this guy anyway? He’s pretty funny, but I imagine he’s right. My man doesn’t like fluff either, at least on his cards. Give him cars, or cookies, or pizza, and he’s happy. 🙂 I adore your card today and you played with all the rules too! 🙂 Simple, yet classic and crisp. Love it! Hugs!

The “rules” sound familiar…..do men telepathically send them to each other? Lol.
Love the colors and your epoxy heart. So cute!
