Primarily Punches!

For today’s card I’ve used a wonderful sketch by the uber-talented Lesley Croghan.  The sketch is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches Challenge, and I simplified the making of this card by using primarily punches.  First, here’s a look at the sketch:

I’ve always liked the elongated cards, and mine measures 4″ x 9″ so it will fit perfectly in a business size envelope.

Here’s what I came up with, using most punches for a quick and easy card that is suitable for either a male or female recipient:

The base card is Soft Suede cardstock, and the main panel is Very Vanilla cardstock sponged lightly with Soft Suede Classic Ink, and then layered on a piece of Basic Black cardstock.  The bottom portion, the leaves and the piece cut with the 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch are Always Artichoke cardstock.  The paper ribbon is Cajun Craze cardstock that was cut with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch,  and the “Happy Birthday” is from the Happiest Birthday Wishes hostess stamp set, and was stamped with VersaMark and then heat embossed with White Embossing Powder.

The bird and it’s one “branch” were stamped with the Language of Friendship stamp set using Soft Suede Classic Ink onto Crumb Cake cardstock, and punched with the Bird Builder Punch.  The Very Vanilla circle was punched with the 1-3/4″ Circle Punch and then stamped with the Good Grid stamp and Soft Suede Classic Ink.

I hope you’ve been inspired by this card that was quick and easy by using punches!  To see more inspirational ideas, and to join us in this week’s challenge, please visit Freshly Made Sketches!
