PP61 – Hybrid Nautical Birthday

I love this week’s The Paper Players Sketch Challenge by Jaydee!  It can be taken in so many different directions, either dressed up or clean and simple.

I’ll be using this one again when I start doing Christmas-themed cards for sure!  I had so many Christmas ideas pop up, but I’m low on masculine birthday cards, so I took the clean and simple road to create my card:

I love the look of the Marina Mist, Not Quite Navy and Soft Suede color combination.  To me, it equates peaceful and relaxed.  I used the Stripes Embossing Folder with VersaMark to get the two-tone embossing.  I printed the Nautical Expedition DSP and a scaled-down ship image from The Open Sea Stamp Brush Set using My Digital Studio software.

SUPPLIES:  Paper:  Soft Suede (115318), Marina Mist (119682), Whisper White (100730), Nautital Expedition DSP (digital download – 124111 or paper – 122343);  Stamp Sets:  The Open Sea Stamp Brush Set (digital download required to get reduced size image - 124112) and Teeny Tiny Wishes (Wood Mount Only, English 115370, Spanish 116841 or French 117989);  Ink:  Soft Suede (115657) and VersaMark (102283);  Tools:  Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (113439), Stripes Embossing Folder (123128), 3/4″ Circle Punch (119873), Modern Label Punch (119849), Circle Scossor Plus (112530), Circle Scissor Plus Glass Mat (112531), Stamping Sponges (101610);  Finishing Touches:  Soft Suede 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon (122967), Metallic Brads (119741) and Antique Brads (117273).

    Cindy,
I love your take on this challenge and am so pleased that you like the sketch! I think the striped embossing folder is the perfect backdrop to The Open Sea. The map behind really adds just the right amount of interest. The ribbon snipped behind the sentiment and the antique brad are the perfect finishing touches.
So glad you joined the Paper Players and shared this lovely card with us.
    Jaydee
